GENDER DIFFERENCES REGARDING SEX
Many
studies conclude a high correlation between marital happiness
and sexual satisfaction.
-
The Sexual Response Cycle is very different for men
and women.
-
Frequency of thinking about sex: men = once every hour
to once a day
women
= once to 3 times a week
It is normal for women not to think about or want sex
as often as men. The challenge is to bring your
sexual styles together and compromise.
-
Men and women differ in what they want from sex.
Women—want physical and
emotional closeness, time together, affirmation,
romance, talking.
Men—want pleasure and a
physical release. Men also want to give their
partner an orgasm.
-
Fatigue—When
women fatigued, sex is last thing on their mind. When
men are exhausted, sometimes they want sex to relax
and to relieve frustration and stress.
-
Body Image—Womens’ body
image plays a big part in wanting sex. If a woman feels
bad about her body image it can hinder her sexual desire.
Mens’ body image does not usually affect their sexuality.
-
Stimulation.
Men
are typically visually stimulated first.
Women
are typically stimulated by touch more
than sight. Touch
has been called the “mother of the senses” and is the
only sense that humans cannot live without. Babies
born blind or deaf can develop normally but babies
deprived of touch can actually die.
